I’m Too Old for This Sh*t: A Shopping Un-wishlist

Have you ever asked yourself if you were “too old for that”? I do, all the time. Quarter life crisis perhaps?

I’m currently in the process of updating my wardrobe because I felt it needed to “grow-up” a bit. It’s taking longer than I would have hoped but rebuilding a wardrobe is expensive and without a lot of extra room in the budget, I can’t just throw everything out and replace it.

As I window shop online and look for inspiration on how to fill my age-appropriate closet, I have come across some items that I am without a doubt, too old for.

Let’s take a look.

urban outfitters

Ah yes, a quirky pair of colorful tights & a puffer vest . My inner 6 year old is quite pleased with this look.

totes adorbsWhile the color of this sweatshirt is nice, I don’t understand why they covered it in prepubescent slang vomit. Lol

What are your thoughts?!

Yes, I’m horrible. But… honest. Lol. My friends say I should edit myself less and say what I think and so there it is. Niki’s opinion fresh outta the oven! But it can’t be just me that thinks these things!

And in case you were wondering, these item are from F21, Urban Outfitters, Charlotte Russe, and Wet Seal. Maybe there’s a bigger issue at hand…

Are we just too old for these shops?!

Anxiously awaiting your comments…

Ahh yes! Finally someone said it. Tired of tees and jumpers that have random sayings on them. I suppose if I was still in grade school, I’d be considered cool for donning this type of attire, but at 28 I’d just look like an idiot that’s trying way too hard to hang onto what little youth I have left.

Exactly! It’s killing me…Lol. I’ve got one or two pieces that are just as tragic as these but I use them as pajamas since they’re still in pretty decent shape. Where do you shop these days? There’s not really a store that caters to our age group, although I have been liking what I see at Express lately. They added more everyday items to their business attire mix.

I think my guilty pleasure is plaid everything. It’s like the early 1990s threw up in my closet. I can still shop at F21 since they do offer a lot, as well as H&M. If I’m looking for something specific, I usually head to ASOS because they have everything, it seems like (even those ridiculous tees unfortunately). Yeah, I noticed Express has added more to their collection. No longer just pants suits and such. The dresses are adorable and of course the jeans are great. I used to shop at GUESS often too, but lately their clothes look too outrageous for my style haha.

Definitely agree with you. I go through the same thing and I’m much older than you but still I love fashion. I try not to spend too much on trends but rather spend good money on classics. The one thing I won’t give up is my boyfriend jeans!!!

I need to do that more! Being on a budget really makes it tough to invest in quality pieces because you need a lot of clothes to get by. I’m slowly making the transition though. And you look great in bf jeans, don’t give them up if you love them!

Stay yourself! Just hilarious. Love reading your voice in this. I agree 100%. That pizza shirt though! That’s a winner. I think the aspect of not taking yourself too seriously all the time is the only appeal of such attire.
