Wedding Dresses Under $300

Okay, let me just be super real and honest for a second. WEDDINGS ARE EXPENSIVE! Like really really expensive. The food, the venue, the dress, the flowers, it all adds up to a BIG number. No one seems to mention it much as we pin to our “Dream Wedding” boards but I think we should.

Lately, I’ve been browsing dresses and I realized that some of them cost more than our expected catering fee. Heck, the designer ones cost more than what we expect to pay for our entire wedding! It’s kind of funny, and sad, and confusing. If I were a millionaire, I’d probably pick out one of the wedding dresses from my pinterest boards and have it customized, add some diamonds, unicorn hair, whatever I felt it needed. But this is REAL life and like most of you, I’m on a REAL budget.

So for every bride-to-be out there who has decided to spend less on her dress and splurge on dessert, or who can simply not afford to buy an expensive dress, I’ve complied a list of lovely options. All of them are under $300 dollars.

Party Dress

Blue DressNot every girl is going to be is going to headed to a costume party this year. Some of us will do the ‘too-cool-for-dressing-up’ party thing and the rest of us will probably stay home. I’m actually planning a sugar packed fun movie night with my boyfriend to celebrate Halloween. But does that mean us non-costume people are stuck wearing something boring? Umm….no. Lol.

If anything, I think we have a perfect excuse to wear something more daring. Halloween practically begs you to be bold and edgy, doesn’t it?

I found this tight blue dress at a yardsale for only $3! And last time I wore it I put tights underneath. But this is Halloween… that means a little leg & some knee high boot action is totally appropriate. haha

Steal Jessica Alba’s Look!

Jessica Alba Dress

For the record, I wore it first. Lol. Normally I recreate looks but this time I happened to stumble across a dress that looked just like the one I bought last year. My dress is knitted/crocheted and Jessica’s is shiny and metallic but the look is pretty close.

I searched everywhere to find links and options for you guys but there’s not a lot out there. I think this style and color combo is barely headed back out for the new season but I was able to find one dress that’s….semi-similar Lol Check it out: Nasty Gal Zig Zag Dress

Aquarium of the Pacific

White dress

I visited the Aquarium of the Pacific for a Sunday date with my babe :) I loved that there were so many things you could touch. I was able to pet a shark, a sting ray, and a jelly fish!

And thanks to we only paid half price to get in. Pretty awesome right? As far as my look goes, I wore a simple white dress with a bright and colorful peacock scarf that I tied into a vest. I have pinterest to thank for this cool idea: Scarf Vest DIY

If you’re considering making a trip to the aquarium I do recommend it but you should be prepared to have to deal with A LOT of kids. I make get a little heat just for saying for this but I want to be honest with you guys. We were push, shoved, and surrounded by crying, screaming and loud kids in every exhibit. They were pretty much running wild.

Just a head up incase you thought you were going to get a quiet and romantic day at the aquarium. Lol. All that considered, is the aquarium a place you’d like to visit? The animals alone are worth it!

VMAs Best Dressed

Best dressed lists are always fun. It’s the worst dressed lists that suck. Seriously, can you imagine what it must feel like to wake up the next day and  see everyone hating on your outfit and talking crap? I’d rather spread positivity. I’m sure there’ll be no shortage of criticism online today.

I picked out my top 3 favorite looks from last night’s VMAs. All of these ladies are ridiculously beautiful and I’d love to just try on these dresses! Lol

Taking first place is…

Taylor Swift.

With a hint of old hollywood glam and a whole lot of sexy Taylor owned the red carpet!

Red Carpet Style

Hello there!

Today I’m really excited to share an amazing experiences with you. Last Friday I attended The Imagen Awards because a film I helped produce was nominated! The Imagen Awards aims to recognize, encourage and reward positive portrayals of Latinos in all forms of media. The Foundation also works to create, promote, and enhance opportunities for all Latinos in front of and behind the camera and throughout the entertainment industry.

It took me ALL day to get ready! But I enjoyed every minute, it made me feel like a princess :) I had some amazing people help me pull my look together and I owe them sooo much because God knows I wake up looking like a train wreck every morning! Lol. My hair was done by the amazing Lupe at Elegance Salonif you’re in the inland empire and are looking for a stylist that does great work, you should definitely give her a call!

My makeup was done by Laura of Miss Prissy and I wish I had gotten more photo of it because the few I did get, truly don’t do it justice. She was able to make me look flawless and perfectly contoured. She specializes in a variety of makeup including special effects for film & TV. She’s located in the SGV but does travel!

Now for fun, star sightings!!! In no particular order, here is a list of some of the celebs I saw: Constance Marie (George Lopez Show), Aubrey Plaza (Parks & Recreation), Bella Thorne (Shake it Up), Jon Huertas (Castle)

Get Red Carpet Ready

I felt really blessed just attending The Imagen Awards. It was a great experience. Being in a room full of people who have accomplished their dreams, at least in part, of creating a successful career in the entertainment industry was inspiring. I think life is too short not to pursue the things you truly want to do. Whatever your dreams may be…acting, singing, opening a flower shop….whatever your heart is calling you to do, do it.

P.S. Believe it or not I did wear a dress from Windsor to the awards! Yep…a girl on ANY budget can look red carpet ready!
