I’m Too Old for This Sh*t: A Shopping Un-wishlist

Have you ever asked yourself if you were “too old for that”? I do, all the time. Quarter life crisis perhaps?

I’m currently in the process of updating my wardrobe because I felt it needed to “grow-up” a bit. It’s taking longer than I would have hoped but rebuilding a wardrobe is expensive and without a lot of extra room in the budget, I can’t just throw everything out and replace it.

As I window shop online and look for inspiration on how to fill my age-appropriate closet, I have come across some items that I am without a doubt, too old for.

Let’s take a look.

urban outfitters

Ah yes, a quirky pair of colorful tights & a puffer vest . My inner 6 year old is quite pleased with this look.

totes adorbsWhile the color of this sweatshirt is nice, I don’t understand why they covered it in prepubescent slang vomit. Lol

What are your thoughts?!

Yes, I’m horrible. But… honest. Lol. My friends say I should edit myself less and say what I think and so there it is. Niki’s opinion fresh outta the oven! But it can’t be just me that thinks these things!

And in case you were wondering, these item are from F21, Urban Outfitters, Charlotte Russe, and Wet Seal. Maybe there’s a bigger issue at hand…

Are we just too old for these shops?!

Anxiously awaiting your comments…

A Gypsy Dream

A Gypsy Dream Desert Girl Desert Gypsy Gypsy CostumeA last minute halloween costume ended up inspiring this fantasy shoot. With only a few moments to get ready for a halloween/birthday party this past Saturday morning, I threw together this simple gypsy look.

Will decided to take a back road on our way to the party and found this awesome photo spot. Isn’t it perfectly fitting?

I know most people only play dress-up once a year but I love creating fantasy looks year round. It’s so much fun!

I’m excited to hear what you think. Let me know what type of imaginative story comes to mind when you see this photo set.

tty soon,

Niki

Happy almost Halloween!

Today I’m sharing a fun and affordable costume idea! I know that a creative, handmade costume sounds like a great idea but c’mon… not everyone has the time or the money for that! (more…)

Wedding Dresses Under $300

Okay, let me just be super real and honest for a second. WEDDINGS ARE EXPENSIVE! Like really really expensive. The food, the venue, the dress, the flowers, it all adds up to a BIG number. No one seems to mention it much as we pin to our “Dream Wedding” boards but I think we should.

Lately, I’ve been browsing dresses and I realized that some of them cost more than our expected catering fee. Heck, the designer ones cost more than what we expect to pay for our entire wedding! It’s kind of funny, and sad, and confusing. If I were a millionaire, I’d probably pick out one of the wedding dresses from my pinterest boards and have it customized, add some diamonds, unicorn hair, whatever I felt it needed. But this is REAL life and like most of you, I’m on a REAL budget.

So for every bride-to-be out there who has decided to spend less on her dress and splurge on dessert, or who can simply not afford to buy an expensive dress, I’ve complied a list of lovely options. All of them are under $300 dollars.

Fall Lookbook 2014

So far so good with my weekly video goal! I incorrectly labeled my title card (things like this happen late at night) but instead of waiting to post I decided to tell my inner perfectionist to keep quiet and let me live my life! Lol.

Happy Friday!

Niki Gets Eyelash Extensions!

I’m so happy to be getting back to making videos! Today I’m sharing a quick look at my trip to Platinum Lashes in Glendora, CA. Let me know if you have any additional questions about eyelash extensions after watching!

A Rainstorm for Butterflies

Butterfly Kisses A butterfly cannot fly in rain. Not only would the heavy drops knock the beautiful winged insect from the sky, the butterfly itself needs the warm rays of the sun to heat it’s flight muscles. But today is different. My sparkly butterflies are completely at ease amidst my water droplet nails.

I was inspired by the name of my new nail polish, Rainstorm by Sinful Colors. I’m loving the fantasy element of this post and hope you are too! More creative and whimsical posts to come!

Megan Fox Smokey Eyes & Pale Pink Lips

Megan Fox Makeup Megan Fox inspired makeupGood morning fellow beauty bandits! I’m sure you’ve noticed the latest blog changes. We’ll be focusing on recreating the looks we love! Under the style thief tab you’ll find inspired outfit/style recreations and under the beauty bandit tab you’ll find posts like these that focus on recreating makeup, hair, or anything beauty related.

Today I’m sharing a beauty look inspired by Megan Fox! I went in to the eye doctor for my yearly eye exam and decided to try out some fun colored contacts. I also remembered that Megan Fox’s new movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, just came out so it seemed only natural to let myself be inspired by her this week.

My biggest tip for channeling your inner Fox, is to focus on the eyes. If you don’t have colored contacts, I suggest using eyeshadow colors that make your eyes pop! At the bottom of this post you’ll find a list of everything I used to recreate her look. Let me know if you have any questions!

Demi Lovato Inspired Look with Rimmel London

demi lovato snapback lakers girl rimmel london diva redToday we are channeling an entirely different style vibe! Say hello to our style inspiration, Demi Lovato! Her look is sexy and casual. I thought it’d be perfect for a sporting event.

It can be tough to create a sexy & cute look without looking overdone for something like a basketball game. My advice is to bring the drama to your lips with a bold color and keep everything else simple. I used Rimmel London’s Moisture Renew in Diva Red.

Adding only subtle makeup to my eyes and leaving my hair straight, helped my final look to remain casual. I also had on a basic black knit dress and sneakers. I wish I could climb stadium stairs in heels but I can barely keep my balance when I walk down my slanted driveway! Haha.

I hope this post was helpful! In the comments let me know what you do to elevate a your look for a casual outing.

And also… I sort of felt like I was channeling the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. See below! Lol
