There are so many pretty things for brides-to-be on Anthropologie’s wedding site (BHLDN)! I’m loving the jewel headpieces and sashes/belts. The toughest part so far is trying to figure which gown silhouette I like best. Any lovely brides out there want to share with me what type of dress shape they chose?
It’s going to be so much fun to share my journey to the wedding with you guys!
Also, there’ll be a fall lookbook video up next week and another advice post so be sure to come back for those! You can send me any questions (wedding, life, style) via email and I’ll do my best to answer them as soon as possible in an upcoming Breakfast at Niki’s post!
On Sunday, August 31, 2014, my life changed forever. An exciting new adventure was on the horizon and I didn’t even know it.
At 7:15 that morning my parents woke me up to deliver a beautiful box. Inside was an iPad with a video, an envelope, and a ticket. With sleepy morning eyes, I watched my boyfriend explain that he had planned something special for my birthday. He had set up a series of clues that would lead me to different destinations. A celebratory scavenger hunt.
And at his request, I vlogged it all. I tried my best to capture every step, every clue, every moment that he would only be able to experience through the lens of my camera. I wanted him to see every smile and laugh he was responsible for creating.
I want you, my sweet readers, to experience it all with me too. So instead of sharing it all in this post, I’m going to edit & narrate the vlog and let you watch it unfold.
But, as many of you already know, the day ended in a surprise engagement and party! It was like something out of a movie only better because films are just make-believe and this is real life!
As you get older, there will be many times when people ask you if you feel any differently. High school graduation, your 18th birthday, your 21st birthday, college graduation, etc. On none of those occasions did I wake up feeling like an entirely new person. This is different. It is the one exception (love always is).
From the moment Will asked me to marry him and slipped the most beautiful ring on my finger, I was forever changed. I feel new, refreshed, and more full of hope and optimism than I have ever been. I have been reminded of how incredible life truly is.
I’m so thankful to everyone who helped make our engagement so special. Our families helped make yesterday happen and it feels amazing to have their love & support as we set out to build a new life together. If anyone who was a part of yesterday is reading this, know that I love you. From the bottom of my heart, I love you! And thank you!
I’m also looking forward to sharing my journey with my readers! There are two new sections coming to the blog. One that will focus on weddings & couple related topics and another that will serve as an advice column that covers life, love, style and everything else you’d like me to share my take on.
I hope you’re just as excited as me! Also, please take a second to check out our amazing & talented photographer and hair/makeup geniuses! Links to both of these talented ladies below!
Bring on the sweater weather, the hot chocolate, and everything knit! This girl is ready for fall! I’m normally all about the warm rays of sun but we could really use a break from the heat here in Cali. And a little rain would be nice. Lol.
Let me know where you’re located and if you’re excited to leave summer behind! Tty soon!
Oh joy, the moment when you share your bare face with the internet. Lol. I’m actually pretty excited to share my makeup transformation with you. And I don’t think it’s any surprise that I don’t wake up with flawless skin, pink cheeks and shimmery eyes. Does anyone?
My daily beauty routine typically involves a BB cream (or light foundation), blush, and mascara. I like to play with different lipstick colors but most of the time I use chapstick or gloss.
BUT, my makeup routine is completely different for special occasions, parties, weddings, and certain date nights. Like a lot of girls, I try to step it up and create a much more flawless face. The challenging thing is that my problem spots are tough to cover. I have acne scars on chin, a temple scar, nose bridge scar, and dark circles that require loads of traditional concealer.
I decided to try out Dermablend because every year we all attend so many special events. And wouldn’t it be awesome if we could show up looking flawless and feeling confident? Who wants to look back on those photos and be like, “oh yea… here’s me, my new husband, and my scar at our wedding”. Lol
I only had to use two products to create a clean and immaculate base! First, I appliedQuick-Fix Concealer($25) to cover my scars, blemishes and dark circles. I followed that up with an even coverage of Intense PowderCamo($30) over my entire face (this provides buildable coverage so you can decide how much you need based on your skin). After that you can use your own blush and eyeshadow to finish off your picture perfect look!
I also want to point out how affordable these products are! They cost the same (or less) than makeup that doesn’t offer you high coverage, smudge resistant wear. Most products are also non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic, fragrance free, ophthalmologist-tested, allergy tested, and dermatologist tested
On Friday, I’ll be showing you how well Dermablend works on tattoos and I’ll give you an up-close look at scar coverage! For now, you can stop by their site and check out all of their products:www. Dermablend.com
Have a great day and I’ll see you back here for Friday’s post!
*Dermablend provided me with products to review but my thoughts & opinions are and will always be honest & genuine!
Hello again! Staring next week, I’m going to try and keep my blogging schedule consistent and post on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I just started a new job so a posting schedule will hopefully help me plan better around my new work hours.
In today’s post I’m sharing a colorful and casual outfit. The geometric skirt is from Nordstrom Rack. For awhile I had trouble wearing it because it seemed so businessy, like when I wore it here. My job doesn’t require typical “office attire” so I thought I might end up giving it away. But then, I put it on and started trying on a bunch of tops and found something that worked.
I recently tried an a new blouse style, the halter swing top! It kept me cool but also looked dressier than a basic tank top. And guess what, it only cost $10 thanks to the clearance sale Express was having.
Unfortunately, Express is all sold out of these tops but I found a few similar items you can try if you’re interested in experimenting with this look.
Is pop culture currently in the middle of a 1920’s short hair revival? Because everyone seems to be heading to the hair salon for a significant chop! The latest girl to join the celebrity haircut club is Kristen Stewart.
Anna Kendrick is pretty awesome. She seems so down to earth and I love her sense of humor! And if all that weren’t enough, she’s also gorgeous. For today’s style thief post, I decided to create a look inspired by her 2014 July Elle Cover. (more…)
