What’s this? A new series? Yep!
Do you live and die by trends?! No? Me either, Lol. But I do love getting a seasonal dose of style inspiration. When you think of trends as fresh inspo instead of mandatory rules they become a lot more fun.
In this new series, I’m going to test out the style trends and show you what they look like in real life. I’ll do my best to make the trend work but let’s be honest, some trends are a total bust and that’s kind of why it’ll be so much fun to test them out!
Today I’m tackling the lingerie dressing trend that’s suppose to be big this fall/winter. This trend seems to pop up every couple of years and I’ve never attempted to wear it because I never owned much lingerie. Thankfully, my bridal shower took care of that and now I finally have some pieces to work with! So.. let’s chat about how this sexy little trend panned out in REAL life.
DOES IT WORK FOR EVERYDAY?
This look has the potential (repeat: POTENTIAL) to work on an everyday basis IF you’re working with less revealing lingerie. I’d love to try a silk nighty tucked into a denim pencil skirt. So 90’s and so cute!
If you only have those spicy lingerie styles in your drawer, you may want to hold off on trying to wear this look to work or a casual event. Keep those tassels at home! Lol.
IS IT AFFORDABLE TO TRY?
This is one of those trends that’s all about working with the items you already own and I love that! If you’re in need of lingerie, you can find a lot of affordable options at Ross, Marshalls, Target, etc.
WHAT DID I LOVE/HATE ABOUT IT?
As I mentioned, I love that this trend doesn’t require you to buy something brand new. Most of us have lingerie. I also love how sexy and beautiful I felt in this look! I’d really like to dress up more often. The only thing I didn’t like was how much harder it was to find the right undergarments. My little silk slip shows every panty line and roll but I couldn’t find anything to put underneath!
I also didn’t like knowing that I had an open lace panel on my butt. Even with my coat on I felt a little exposed. But, there are plenty of silk slips that don’t have sheer panels so this is easily fixed!
WOULD I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE?
I totally recommend this trend! It works in real life, as long as you pick the right pieces. I wish my slip had been a little longer (couldn’t really bend and the wind was trying to show all the neighbors my underwear!) but overall I was so happy with this look.
If you want to spice up your next date night pull out that lingerie and pair it with your favorite skirt, skinny jeans, or jacket!
Let me know what you you think of the lingerie dressing trend and this new Test the Trend series! Are you brave enough to take your nighty out in public?
